What is it?
- A Search for personal vision and direction.
- An Opportunity, by referral only, to join a six week on-site leadership journey with Rick Zachary.
- A Journey
- India – Our journey will begin with a trip to Delhi, India. From Delhi we will travel to Varanasi, India, a Hindu holy city on the banks of the Ganges River. In Varanasi we will study Hinduism and the influence it holds on over one billion people. We will also visit and minister to Indian congregations in the Varanasi region.
- Nepal – From Varanasi we will travel to Katmandu, Nepal, where we will study Buddhism and the influence it holds on over 1.5 billion people in Asia. We will also study the increasing influence of Buddhist philosophy in western civilization. While we are in the Katmandu Valley, we will visit my orphanage in Bhaktapur.
- Himalayas– From Katmandu we will hike two weeks in the Himalayan Mountains. On this journey, I will teach you principles of leadership and vision. We will make a three-day stop in an isolated wilderness area to fast, pray, and seek the Lord for individual vision. From our trek we will travel to West Nepal and visit some of the 100 village churches we have planted in that region.
- Pakistan – From West Nepal we will journey overland back into India and travel by train to the Pakistan border. We will walk across the border into Pakistan and travel by bus to Islamabad, Pakistan. There we will study Islam and its influence on over one billion people. We will also visit our 1,000+ member church in Islamabad. From Islamabad we will return by bus and train to Delhi, India, where we will return to the U.S.
Who is it for?
- Serious Leaders – This is not a discipleship course but a leadership course. It is not designed to deal with personal issues, immaturity, rebellion or emotional deficit.
- Endorsed Leaders – You will need to furnish a strong letter of endorsement from your pastor, recommending you as a proven leader. Your pastor and leaders should read and understand the requirements. You will not be accepted without a referral from your pastor.
- Prepared Leaders – You should have completed a discipleship or intern program and you should be a high school graduate. Understand that I will challenge you to pursue a college education.
- World Leaders – Regardless of your eventual ministry call you should have a vision for the world.
- Physically Fit Leaders – I will accept young men and women into this group and my goal is to accommodate an equal number of each. The group size will be limited to no more that 12 individuals. This will be a physically demanding trip with some overnights in wilderness areas and exposure to the elements. You will need to be prepared to carry a full backpack in strenuous conditions. I will consider married couples on a case-by-case basis.
- Secure Leaders – This region of the world can be dangerous. You will need to be prepared to accept and face an emotionally challenging environment. If you tend to be fearful or insecure you should not consider making this journey.
- Elite Leaders – I consider this trip to be a privilege for you. I am willing to devote six weeks of my life to you because I believe I am responsible to the Lord for the life experience I have enjoyed. I believe I have an obligation to pass along that experience to worthy leaders. I am expecting that you will have the mental aptitude and the personal preparedness to absorb the teaching and experience you will receive on this journey.
- Resourceful Leaders – This trip will not be cheap. Expect total expenses to be around $3,750. We will travel as inexpensively as possible, but understand the broad range of exposure you will enjoy and the value of that experience. Your expenses will be limited to travel, lodging and food – nothing more.
When will it happen?
- October/November Every Year – We will journey the entire month of October and part of November, which is the best time of year for travel in North India, Pakistan and Nepal. Monsoon rains hinder travel into the Himalayan Mountains in the summer months and winters at altitude can be difficult due to snow accumulation. This is worth missing a semester of school.
How can you get on board?
