Since the early 1990’s I have been partnering with New Life Church, a powerful ministry in Bombay . Led by pastor S. Joseph, New Life is one of the most influential churches in India.  I have been working the past two years to help New Life construct a ministry training center.  The building is now completed and Pastor Joseph and his staff took occupancy last month.  The four story building houses a church on the first floor, offices for New Life church on the second floor and a training center on the third floor.  We are setting up a resource center on this floor and have the capacity to train 300 leaders at a time.  We have been able to plant 87 new churches with New Life church over the past three years but what excites me now is the potential for explosive church planting. Now that we have a trained leadership base and a training center, Pastor Joseph and I are focusing on the area around Bombay—Maharashtra state.  The third largest state in India, Maharashtra has a population of 97 million.  I hope to establish a model church in each of the 35 districts, and we have set the goal of training and launching 100,000 leaders over the next ten years!  It’s an ambitious goal but the potential of this region is truly one of greatest opportunities to reach multitudes in our generation. 100,000 new churches may sound impossible but Pastor Joseph already has over 20,000 members in over 500 congregations in Bombay alone.  Through the multiplication of leaders we both feel that this is a reachable goal over the next ten years.
