When Bev and I were in Islamabad this past April, we held a five night open-air meeting on the grounds where we are building the new church. The construction of that building has been delayed a bit while we worked out building permits and tendered bids from sub-contractors. We have begun the site preparation and will begin construction this month.
In those five nights of meetings the Lord worked some remarkable miracles. I have held off giving a complete account on those miracles until we could follow up on the reports and verify the testimonies. It has been my experience that people may have emotional encounters during a special meeting but not experience lasting results. I've waited two months before giving these reports to allow our church leaders time to verify the testimonies we heard during the meetings.
There were scores of reports from people healed of simple ailments such as arthritis, joint pains, stomach pains and headaches, but some of the testimonies were even more remarkable.
A man named Faiz Manzoor had a broken leg from an automobile accident and could not walk. He began walking without pain in the meeting and has been doing fine since. Amanat Masiah was healed of a heart condition. A woman who had been experiencing pain in her arm for three years was healed instantly. She had not been able to raise her arm but has been using it normally the past two months. A woman named Mrs. Aslam had a kidney that had totally failed. She is now healed and pain free. A man named Patras was also healed of a kidney problem. A man named Rojes, who had suffered migraine headaches for 20 years, was healed and has been in every church service since!
A man named Tariq Masih began thrashing on the ground in the second night and was delivered about five minutes after we prayed for him. He was filthy and clothed in rags. When he came to the meeting the next night, neatly dressed, clean shaven and in his right mind, I didn't recognized him!
The most notable miracle was a Moslem lady named Zubaidah. She came into the meeting late, clothed from head to toe in the traditional burkha that Islamic women wear in Pakistan . She left early when her husband came for her, and I was disappointed when she walked out while I was preaching. She sent us a note later saying that she had been healed of a gynecological problem while I was preaching. Since she is Moslem, she cannot openly attend our Christian gatherings, but she cannot deny that Jesus has healed her.
